About the Event
A significant gender gap has persisted throughout the years at all levels of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines all over the world. Even though women have made tremendous progress toward increasing their participation in higher education, they are still underrepresented in these fields. International Women and Girls in Science Day celebrates the important role of women in science. Established in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly, the day has become an icon of gender equality.
